    Hi!

Thanks for the plugin! Could you make an extra field for password validation? Just to prevent misspellings etc.

    • brajesh says:

      hi Mikael
Thanks for the comment and suggestion.I look forward to add it to the next version, just skipped it to make it easy in the first version :)
      Thanks

Thanks for the plugin, it works great!

Hey there, great addition to the Buddypress framework! I’m playing around with your plugin and want to change the teyt in …password.php.

It does however not display on the (local) installation. Is there any caching going on I am unaware of?

Thanks for your input here :)

    • brajesh says:

      Hi Simon
Thanks for the appreciation.I am not sure, what do you mean by “teyt”,do you mean text(label), you can find the text in inside cc_bp_pass_show_password_form function. There should not be any caching issue.
Please let me know,in a little detail if possible.
      thanks
      Brajesh

  4. Simon says:

    Hey Brajesh,

Yeah sorry, I meant text by that. Here a more detailed version of my steps:

I changed the text and the h3 inside your plugin.php (which is located in the mu plugins directory) in the password-form-field div.

After saving it that way, I still get your version “Choose a password which suits your memory ! If you don’t choose one,We will generate a random Password”.

I have it on my local mamp testing server and I’m not quite sure what possibly could cause this (except some caching, but I’m not using any cache plugins).

Well, thanks again, really something that was missing here :)

    • brajesh says:

      hi Simon
Thanks for clarifying. This is quiet strange.Since you have already modified the paragraph text, which says “choose a password which suits your memory!” ,It must be appearing.I can not guess a reason, why it’s not showing at your local mamp.Try clearing caches and make sure, there is no caching plugin active, which might have cached the earlier version.

      Thanks
      Brajesh

  5. Simon says:

Yes strange indeed. That’s what I did, deleted the browser cache, no caching plugins are active as far as I can see.

Also I deleted the plugin from the folder and the boxes still appear…

    Thanks again!

  6. Necati says:

    Hi-
Users on my site who choose their own passwords report that they are still prompted a generated password and it is that random password that works while logging into the site.

My Buddypress runs on WPMU 2.8.2, maybe it is why?

    Thanks!
    Necati

    • brajesh says:

      hi Necati
Can you point me to the site ,where you are using it.There is no problem with wpmu 2.8.2

      • Necati says:

The site is ecofuture, my name here links to it.

I just created a user myself and once I activated my account I was sent the usual generated pass.

If it isn’t the version, I must be missing something else. Was I supposed to turn off something or comment out some code or something?

      • brajesh says:

        hi
Thanks for pointing.Earlier when I checked your site, the password register plugin was inactive,so could not tell anything.Perhaps it is conflicting with captcha plugin,or anything other.Just to confirm, please let me know your buddypress version. Are you using buddypress 1.0.3 ?

I will get back to you again soon.
        Thanks
        Brajesh

      • brajesh says:

ok,Please let me know one thing. If you have linux hosting.Use php myadmin and navigate to database ,then browse wp_signups,please check the meta field, is there some value for user_password field stored(It is stored for newly created users only, otherwise the meta is cleaned by the plugin when the account is activated).Another thing,I can not confirm though, you are using wordpress Mu signup page(while this plugin I tested with standard buddypress register/activation page),so that may be another reason.

        Thanks
        Brajesh

  7. Hello,

Seems great but when I tested on WordPress Mu 2.7.1 at http://reboltutorial.com and it still generates an automatic password ?

    Thanks.

  8. taranicholle says:

I just installed BuddyPress and WordPress MU at wrelda.com. Then I installed woothemes Mainstream theme for the WP theme/Home/Main Blog page. I enabled registrations on the BuddyPress options page. Even still, I can’t find any registration page or way for visitors to sign up to participate in the bbpress social media functions.

Suggestions? Help? If the theme is the problem, does anyone know the default slug for the registration page, so I can create a tab/link to it?

Alternatively/in addition, would LOVE a home page sidebar widget that has BuddyPress login AND registration capabilities.

    HELP!

    Tara

    • brajesh says:

      hi Tara
      Thanks for your comment.
I see your signup page here
http://www.wrelda.com/wp-signup.php (directly accesible from top bar->signup).
To get the register page as yoursite.com/register you will need two more template files inside your main blog theme(register.php,activate.php)

Anyway, users are able to register on your site without them(those two template files) too, adding these files just gives an easy url for registration).

For sidebar login you may try this plugin. It will work for buddypress too.
      http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/sidebar-login/
      Hope it helps.
      Thanks

    Hi,
Same issue, the random password is still sended.
Using version 1.0.3. The meta is ok (there is the password inside before activation).

    • brajesh says:

      hi Rockford
I will test it again on bp 1.0.3 but if you have upgraded to bp 1.1 you will no more need this plugin as bp1.1 has inbuilt facility for this.

      Thanks
      Brajesh

      • Rockford says:

1.1 is not stable for now, and I cannot migrate my theme. So I need your plugin :)
How can I debug it? By adding debug logs? It seems to be the filter “random password” which is not working.

      • MarkS says:

You mentioned that bp1.1 has inbuilt facility for user created passwords and your plugin will not be needed. I can not find any way to configure this in bp1.1. Can you share how to do this in bp1.1 without a plugin. Thanks!

  10. brajesh says:

    @MarkS
well,Please have a look at the default theme in bp 1.1.1(or bp 1.1 “bp-sn-parent” theme.
here checkout the code for registration/register.php you will see all the codes. Now all the functionality of password remain in control of the theme authors. So you may incorporate this.

    Thanks
    Brajesh

Hello there, I am having a problem with my sign up page, I wonder if this plugin would be able to resolve this issue. thanks a lot

  12. Mac says:

Hi. Good plugin, but my users have problems. After registration they received e-mails with activation link, and there is their auto-generated passwords on WP MU. Why?
(these passwords don’t work, but it can upset users)

  13. Ruben.cc says:

Thanks for the plugin! Though you wrote that BuddyPress doesn’t need this, this plugin saved my day. I’ve spend some days installing WordPress 3 Multi Site with BuddyPress and multiple domains to add blogs to as a sub-domain AND some real domains that transparantly use a blog inside this installation.

After a lot of tweaking I ended up in a situation where the user was not able to select a password, but received a mail telling him to logon with his selected password, which was a pretty stupid and anoying situation.

Thanks to this plugin users are now able to select the password at sign-in again -and- still select the domain they want to start their blog under.

    Thanks again!
